We understand that you may have a lot of questions about our recycling pickup service, such as what can and can’t be recycled. Our goal is to make the process as simple as possible for you so please take a moment to review some of the most commonly asked questions and answers about our recycling service:

What items can be recycled?

We will accept a wide variety of recyclables, including cardboard, newspapers, magazines, junk mail, envelopes, unsoiled paper material, boxboard, paper cartons, office papers, file folders, glass bottles, glass jars, plastic containers (#1-#7) metal, and tin.

When is recycling collected?

You can arrange to have us pick up your recyclables on a day that works best for you. Simply give us a call and we will coordinate a pickup date that fits your schedule.

Where can I recycle other items?

There are certain materials that we do not collect, such as plastic bags, sheet glass, soiled paper and cardboard products, Styrofoam cups, and plastics without a number. Plastic bags can be recycled by bringing them to the store they came from. Other materials can be brought to local recycling facilities.

Why aren’t all plastics accepted?

Plastic products are often made with varying compositions. During the recycling process, plastics must be grouped with other plastics that have a similar composition in order to be made into new products. Some plastics have low or no recyclable composition, which means we can’t accept them.

Are compostable items recyclable?

No, compostable items should either be properly composted or placed in the trash.

What is recycling contamination?

Recycling contamination refers to placing waste material into the wrong bin. For example, you may throw a pizza box into the recycle bin when it is not actually recyclable. Recycling contamination complicates the recycling process and oftentimes, the unfit items never get recycled and are diverted to the landfill instead.

Should I rinse plastic containers, cans, bottles, and jars?

Yes, the best way to prevent recycling contamination and be able to recycle more of your waste products is to thoroughly rinse them before placing them in the recycling bin.

What is single-stream recycling?

Single-stream recycling makes the recycling process more efficient. Basically, all you must do is throw your accepted, non-biohazardous recyclable materials into one bin without sorting.
